Did you know that 77 per cent of women under 35 don't know the exact value of their super? Research undertaken by the Australian Securities Investments Commission (ASIC) suggests that this is in fact, true*. We want to shift this statistic with the March super challenge.
For International Women’s Day on 8 March, ASIC is welcoming the #BalanceforBetter theme that promotes gender balance and encourages women to check their super balance.
The first step is to start a conversation about super with all the women in your life, and ask yourself:
- Have you consolidated your super into one account?
- If yes, when is the last time you checked your balance?
- Have you considered if extra contributions are right for you?
- Have you explored how your super is treated if you take a break from work?
Taking a few small steps now will ensure we all have control of our financial lives.
Join the #BalanceforBetter super challenge - ASIC’s MoneySmart is a good place to start.
