Modernising the public sector exhibition

The Australian Public Service: what we do is literally in our name. We need to be relevant and fit for purpose. We must deliver high quality results for Australian citizens and businesses in the most efficient way possible.

Modernising the public sector is about making sure we continue to be a useful part of the everyday life of Australians. The independent review is taking a broader look at what the APS needs for long-term sustainability. But there are a lot of initiatives and Modernisation Fund projects already underway to improve the way we work and deliver services to citizens.

Projects will be on show at the Modernising the Public Sector Exhibition hosted by the Department of Finance.

The Expo will be held in Canberra on Wednesday 13 March from 10.00am.

Venue and registration details are available here.

The Expo will highlight around 20 projects, including Geoscience Australia’s exciting Digital Earth project, the Digital Transformation Agency’s Digital Identity and the Department of Human Services’ Welfare Payment Infrastructure Transformation.

The Minister for Finance and the Public Service, Senator the Hon. Mathias Cormann, and the Assistant Minister for Treasury and Finance, Senator the Hon. Zed Seselja, will speak at the event.

Other special guests include:

  • Dr Martin Parkinson AC PSM, Secretary, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
  • Ms Rosemary Huxtable PSM, Secretary, Department of Finance, and Chair of the Secretaries’ APS Reform Committee.
  • Mr Peter Woolcott AO, Commissioner, Australian Public Service.
